Call for Proposals: The Boston Seminar on the History of Women, Gender, & Sexuality

The Boston Seminar on the History of Women, Gender, & Sexuality, co-sponsored by the Massachusetts Historical Society and the Schlesinger Library of the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study, invites proposals for sessions in its 2018-2019 series. Topics address all aspects of the history of women, gender, and sexuality in the United States. Cross-disciplinary projects and projects comparing the American experience with that in other parts of the world are also welcomed.
The series offers a variety of formats such as state-of-the-field panels; roundtable conversations centered on a question, an emerging subfield, or an important recent work; and discussions of pre-circulated works-in-progress. The steering committee welcomes proposals submitted for any of these formats, by individuals or a group of presenters.
Seminar meetings alternate between the Radcliffe Institute and at the Massachusetts Historical Society. The “Boston” in our name signals not the topics we address, but the numerous academic institutions in Boston, Cambridge, and greater New England whose students and faculty regularly gather around our seminar table.
We invite proposals (500 words) and CVs from interested researchers. In your proposal, please advise us of any special scheduling conditions, such as a planned trip to Boston or an extended period when you cannot make a presentation. The steering committee will consider all proposals for our 2018-19 session slots, and proposers will be notified by mid-May.
