The WAWH was founded in 1969 to promote the interests of women historians both in academic settings and in the field of history generally. Drawing scholars from the Western states, the WAWH is one of the largest of the regional women’s historical association in the United States. Although the majority of our members come from the Western United States, we have members from across the United States, Canada, and other countries and encourage people from any geographic area to join and participate in the organization.
Membership runs WAWH conference to WAWH conference. Memberships processed in the middle of a membership year are not prorated.
WAWH Membership, 2022-2023
Members of WAWH receive lower conference rates. Membership for the 2022-2023 membership year makes the member eligible for the 2023 WAWH awards and prizes and to present at the 2023 WAWH luncheon session, which will be embedded in the Berkshire Conference meeting in June-July 2023. For more information about WAWH in 2023, see the Annual Conference tab above. A three-year membership makes the member eligible to apply for awards or to present through the 2025 conference.
