2024 WAWH Call for Proposals_Oct 16 deadline (pdf)
DownloadWAWH invites session and paper proposals in ALL fields, regions, and periods of history.
We especially welcome content and panel composition with diverse representation of gender, generation, geography, race, ethnicity, institution, ability, and occupation.
October 16, 2023
Traditional Panels: themed panel with 3-4 presenters, a chair, and optional commentor (chair may comment)
Roundtables: 4-5 participants + chairperson who present, discuss, and interact with the audience on a single topic, theme, or issue
Workshops: 1-3 leaders, an interactive & practical deep-dive into a subject
Topics might include but are not limited to: publishing, activist organizing, public history, pedagogy, non-academic careers, Chat GPT -- get creative!
Novelties: Do you have an innovative, out-of-the-box idea for a session? Pitch it!
Individual Papers: Preference will be given to complete panels but individual papers will be placed on panels if space and relevancy permits. We strongly encourage participants interested in submitting an individual paper to instead seek out fellow presenters for collaboration in a panel using the collaboration spreadsheet link.
Graduate Student Posters: A research-based poster presented by someone enrolled in a postbaccalaureate program.
Book Launch & Reading: WAWH opens the conference by celebrating our authors with a book launch reception on Thursday night. If your book was published after April 2022 or in the calendar year 2023, consider submitting. Those selected to present should be prepared to give a short introduction, read a passage from their book, and engage in Audience Q&A. Space is limited; application does not guarantee participation.
First read the "What to Know" section below that corresponds with your session type.
Second, after you have gathered all of the necessary information, please CLICK HERE to submit your proposal on the Proposal Submission Form.
The Western Association of Women Historians recognizes and celebrates members' achievements. Awards and prizes are presented during the Awards Banquet at the annual conference. CLICK HERE to learn more about WAWH awards.
Current membership will be required of all panelists whose sessions are accepted for inclusion in the conference program. Panelists will not be permitted to register without it. Annual membership fees range from $25 to $60.
