The W-A-W-H Song

Sung to the tune of Julia Ward Howe’s Battle Hymn of the Republic

Way back in 1969 dear WAWH [wah-wuh] got its start.

Linda Kerber and Grace Larsen played a most important part.

They gathered up the women with history in their hearts

The past is marching on!

CHORUS

W-A-W-H

W-A-W-H

W-A-W-H

The past is marching on!

They held their first great meeting at old Asilomar.

Up from San Diego came a nun from quite afar

She joined them in their love for things that make us who we are.

The past is marching on!

CHORUS

The presidents, they led us through the thick times and the thin

Keller, Renner, Perry, Lystra, Blair, Moon, Morgan, and Offen

We are thankful that these leaders are all historians…

The past is marching on!

CHORUS

Children, partners, hire, tenure, as we climb up the ladder

Forces from all sides keep working to compel our minds to scatter

Meeting every year to focus on the history that matters

The past is marching on!

CHORUS

Here we stand together women celebrating talk and wine

Now we come from different walks of life but yet we still combine

History is the tie that binds and helps to make dear WAWH shine

The past is marching on!

CHORUS
