Graduate Student Posters

Posters sessions are an interactive forum where...

graduate students share their research through a combination of text and graphics on a physical poster. During the session, presenters discuss their work with conference attendees. In sharing their research with conference attendees, graduate student presenters have the opportunity to network and receive valuable feedback from advanced scholars in a supportive and low-pressure environment.

Timing

Sessions are 30 - 45 minutes in length (+ set up time) on both Friday and Saturday.

Eligibility

  • Poster presenter must be a student who is enrolled in a graduate degree program at an accredited college or university.

  • Poster presenters must be present and available to interact with observers during the scheduled Friday & Saturday poster sessions.

  • Poster presenters must be WAWH members at the time of the conference and must be registered to participate.

  • All fields of history will be considered.

  • Posters selected for presentation will be on display for the duration of the conference.

  • Format: Poster size is limited to a maximum of 36"x48" tri-fold cardboard display or 36" square for flat posters. WAWH will provide tables on which to display posters but presenters should be prepared to bring their own easel or display apparatus should their poster not be freestanding.

  • Note: Prospective presenters will find an array of poster materials, display methods, and transportation conveyances available for purchase online and at art & craft stores. Please do not ask the program committee for this information.

Examples of past posters: Please see the Mary Elizabeth "Betsy" Perry Graduate Student Prize web page.

You just might win! All accepted posters will automatically be entered into the Mary Elizabeth "Betsy" Perry Graduate Student Prize competition. The prize carries a $150 award. No application beyond this submission is required to compete for the prize.

To submit, you will need to enter the following into the submission form:

  • Your name and email address.
  • 150 word bio
  • Poster title
  • Poster Abstract (250 words)

Submission Deadline: October 5, 2025

Questions about the submission process should be directed to the 2026 Program Committee at ConferenceProgram@wawh.org.
